Silk was born Silk was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. She was born to Peter Silk, a professor, and Ilkay who was a playwright as well as director who was also renowned for her acting. Anna is able to recall some of her first memories when she was a kid, such as watching her mom work at play rehearsals. Silk featured in a few commercials that she was in as a child. In 1997, she graduated with her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas staged at least 2 early plays: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting by moving to Toronto the Canadian city of Toronto in November of 1999. After that, she relocated to Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman is her future husband, who she first discovered at a workshop in Los Angeles at an Actors' workshop, in 2007. In 2009 they were wed in a civil ceremony in December of 2009. In Fredericton on 10 April 2011, following her conversion to Judaism the couple renewed their vows at a Jewish wedding ceremony.
